“Heartland Harmonies” Concert Tour

DES MOINES, IA—On Sunday, June 30th at 7:00 p.m., The United States Coast Guard Band performsin the “Music Under the Stars” series at the Iowa State Capitol located at 1007 E Grand Avenue in Des Moines. This free event is part of the “Heartland Harmonies” concert tour through the American South Central and Midwest regions performing for the public and providing educational outreach. Under the Direction of Commander Adam R. Williamson, the 55-member ensemble is proud to perform throughout Coast Guard District 8 presenting wind band hits, virtuosic solo features, rousing marches, new music by American composers, and patriotic classics in a program that is sure to bring the audience to its feet!

Established in 1925, the United States Coast Guard Band is the premier musical representative of the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security and is the Coast Guard’s only professional musical ensemble. The Band serves the American people through its mission of promoting public goodwill toward the U.S. Coast Guard, preserving and honoring the heritage, traditions, and history of the Coast Guard and our nation, enhancing pride within our service, supporting Coast Guard recruiting activities, and performing for official functions.

This outdoor concert is presented free of charge, tickets are not required. In case of rain, the performance will be held at Drake University Fine Arts Center.
